A novel tells the story of a murder in the Arizona desert. The novel is translated from French into French (or English into English, if you read the translation). The translator enters into the novel and maps and unmaps the narrative strands as she explores the narrative landscape; the setting for the murder. The translator retells the original novel with the twist that her own perspective and personality influences her translation. The result is a three-part package; a gorgeous, layered book that lets language unravel in spite of the gendered violence of the world.
