Morning in the Burned House by Margaret Atwood

McClelland & Stewart, 1995, 2009

Atwood will manage to limp along with my recommendation. Still, this is an old book: 1995 and I go back to it every couple of years. The poems about the death of her father are so tender and moving. Ditto for the poems about getting older, but not too old:

"Don’t get me wrong: with the lights out
I’d still take on anyone,
if I had the energy to spare."
