Don't miss DEAR CENSOR: A short play, presented in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Freedom to Read Week.
Using letters and lectures by authors Margaret Atwood, Lawrence Hill, Margaret Laurence, Rohinton Mistry and Ann Patchett, publisher Patsy Aldana and theatre-company president Sue Golding, local theatre group Birdtown & Swanville performs a short play about defending the written word against would-be censors.
The Canadian Library Association’s Advancement of Intellectual Freedom in Canada Award and The Writers’ Union of Canada’s Freedom to Read Award will also be presented at this event.
Performance at 7:30p.m., doors at 7:00p.m.
