Share |

On July 1, Salty Ink announced that Kenneth J. Harvey, author of Blackstrap Hawco (Random House), is the winner of their Atlantic Canada Reads competition.

From our friends at Salty Ink:

"In a play off CBC's popular Canada Reads competition, Salty Ink launched Atlantic Canada Reads in the spirit of promoting Atlantic Canadian literature. In May of 2010, readers across the country elected themselves to defend a favourite novel by an Atlantic Canadian author.

Of the books nominated, a three-person panel selected six books, with the intention of showcasing a diversity of Atlantic Canadian writing."

Nominees included:

February (Anansi) by Lisa Moore

Blackstrap Hawco (Random House) by Kenneth J. Harvey

Republic of Nothing (Gooselane Editions) by Lesley Choyce

George and Rue (Carroll & Graf) by George Elliott Clarke

The Push and the Pull (Gooselane Editions) by Darryl Whetter

Annabel (Anansi) by Kathleen Winter
