CanLit at TIFF

Four films based on Canadian novels are showing at the Toronto International Film Festival. Fugitive Pieces, based on the novel by Anne Michaels and directed by Jeremy Podeswa, opened the festival on Thursday and is playing Saturday, September 8 at the Cumberland. On Wednesday, September 12, The Stone Angel, based on the novel by Margaret Laurence and directed by Kari Skogland, opens at the Scotia Bank Theatre. The official North American premier of The Tracey Fragments, based on the novel by Maureen Medved and directed by Bruce McDonald, is on Wednesday, September 12 at the Scotia Bank Theatre. The festival closes with Emotional Arithmetic, based on the novel by Matt Cohen and directed by Paolo Barzman, playing at the Visa Screening Room and Roy Thompson Hall on Saturday, September 15.
