Donner Prize Shortlist Announced

Today is a big announcement day in the book world: shortlists for both The Donner Prize and The Griffin Poetry Prize are being released. Congratulations to the four finalists for The Donner Prize, announced earlier this morning: The Politics of Linkage: Power, Interdependence and Ideas in Canada-US Relations, by Brian Bow (UBC Press) Who Owns the Arctic? Understanding Sovereignty Disputes in the North, by Michael Byers (Douglas & McIntyre) A Thousand Dreams: Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and the Fight for Its Future, by Larry Campbell, Neil Boyd & Lori Culbert (Greystone Books) Branding Canada: Projecting Canada’s Soft Power through Public Diplomacy, by Evan H. Potter (McGill-Queen’s University Press) The Donner Prize was created in 1998 to “recognize and reward the best public policy thinking, writing and research in Canada,” according to a press release announcing the nominations. The winner will be announced at an event in Toronto on April 28. The winner will receive $35,000 and each of the runners-up will receive $5,000. We'll have the Griffin shortlist for you shortly.
