Freedom to Read Week Event Alert: Censored at the Garrison

Share |

If you've been on Queen West this week, you've probably stopped to check out the stunning window art at Type Books. The display was created by artist Kalpna Patel, and its purpose is to let book lovers know about Freedom to Read Week’s headline event, CENSORED, which takes place on February 28th at The Garrison (1197 Dundas St. W, Toronto). The event will welcome writer Lisa Charleyboy, playwright Catherine Frid, feminist advocate Steph Guthrie, librarian and storyteller Ken Setterington, novelist and activist Susan Swan and book publishing veteran Bruce Walsh to the stage to share their personal experiences with censorship. We hope to see you there!

Freedom to Read Week is a national event presented by the Book and Periodical Council that celebrates freedom of expression while raising awareness of challenges to the written word. It is celebrating its 29th year.

Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. To purchase, please go to the online box office.
