INSPIRE! Toronto International Book Fair

The organizers of INSPIRE! Toronto International Book Fair have announced the lineup for their inaugural event, taking place from November 13 to 16, 2014 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. With over 300 hours of programming that will showcase 400 Canadian and International authors in eight unique feature areas, the three and a half day event is offering up the chance for book lovers of all tastes to come together and celebrate the many facets of writing and publishing.

The INSPIRE! Main Stage will feature an impressive roster of best-selling and award-winning writers including Margaret Atwood, Lev Grossman, William Gibson and Meg Wolitzer. The Discovery Stage will focus on Ontario and Canadian independent publishers and their authors, such as Judith Miller, Molly Peacock and Allan Stratton. The First Nations, Métis and Inuit Literary Circle will showcase the diversity of Indigenous writers from across Canada, featuring Lee Maracle, Waubgeshig Rice and Paul Seesequasis, among many others.

If your shelves are stuffed with cookbooks, then the Piller’s Culinary Zone's lineup of chefs and food writers, like Elizabeth Baird, Rose Reisman and David Sax is the stage for you. The Spark Stage will showcase some of the year's most talked about books, in a variety of genres, ranging from Romance to Science Fiction and everything in between. Look for authors Allison Pick, Elaine Lui, Ismael Cala and Theo Fleury, as well as many others, on this stage. The TD Children's Stage, featuring interactive programming that showcases children's favourites like Barbara Reid, Eric Walters, Kevin Sylvester and Gordon Korman, is the stage for kids of all ages.

INSPIRE! will also offer two additional stages, From the Four Corners, celebrating literature that reflects the linguistic and cultural diversity of Canada and The Hub Soapbox Stage, showcasing alternative publishing mediums. A range of workshops and seminars for trade-insiders, librarians, aspiring writers and children will also be offered. To check out the full programming schedule, visit the INSPIRE! website.

Rounding out the many diverse offerings is the INSPIRE! Marketplace, an exciting shopping area featuring over 200 exhibitors. A final list of exhibitors will be released after the registration deadline closes on October 1. The INSPIRE! Lift-Off Party will kick off the weekend on Thursday, November 13 with hors d’oeuvres, celebratory drinks and live entertainment.

INSPIRE! Toronto International Book Fair tickets are $15 per person, with re-entry on all three days included in the price of admission. The fair will run from 10 am to 8 pm on November 14 and 15 and from 10 am to 6 pm on November 16. Tickets are available online through the INSPIRE! website.
