Noticed: Hazlitt Asks Ten Writers What They Do When a Story or Character Has to Die

Sometimes, despite the time, energy and love put into developing a character or a plotline, it just doesn't work — and an author has to kill it. As part of their Failure Week, which began on Monday, Hazlitt (Random House of Canada’s online magazine) asked ten Canadian writers, “Where do all the dead stories and characters go?” Their varied responses to having to alter or cut a significant (or not-so-significant) part of their work are fascinating.
