Stroll with Shawn Micallef at the Power Plant This Weekend
Submitted by clelia on November 12, 2010 - 3:48pm
From our friends at Coach House Books: This Sunday, November 14, Shawn Micallef (Eye Weekly, Spacing, Stroll) will lead a field trip from The Power Plant, with a psychogeographic walk of Toronto's Harbourfront. If you haven't accompanied Shawn Micallef on a psychogeographic walk before, this is a great opportunity. Psychogeography is a way of breaking out of that routine and paying attention to and getting excited about the locations in the city. Not a historical tour, this walk is a drift through the neighbourhood where diversions and getting a bit lost will be encouraged. Be prepared to share your personal history and knowledge about Toronto's Harbourfront with fellow strollers. Copies of Micallef's Stroll: Psychogeographic Walking Tours of Toronto will be available for purchase at the Power Plant. And attendees to the walk will receive a special limited-edition Harbourfront map illustrated by Marlena Zuber, illustrator of Stroll (while supplies last). 'Shawn Micallef looks at the city in a way we all should more often -- he sees it as a living book that is alive with stories just waiting to be told to the attentive observer.' – David Crombie, former mayor of Toronto 'A smart and intimate guide to the city that makes you feel like an insider from start to finish.' – Douglas Coupland FIELD TRIP Related item from our archives |
