What do Friends of Dufferin Grove Park, knitting bombs, flash mobs, random acts of hopscotch and Toronto's Shadowland have in common? According to author and film professor Clarke Mackey, they are all examples of something called vernacular culture.

In the trailer for his new book, Random Acts of Culture (BTL Books), Clarke Mackey explains what he means by vernacular culture and why it can be a powerful force against apathy and disengagement.

Come down to the Rink House at Dufferin Grove Park (850 Dufferin St.) for the launch of Random Acts of Culture this Thursday, Oct. 7th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
