Novel-tv: Type - Episode 2 with Derek McCormack and Anwar Mekhayech

Share |

Derek McCormack (author of The Show That Smells, ECW Press) and Anwar Mukhayesh (from HGTV's The Designer Guys) interview each other about the inspiration behind their art.

Type is a new series of "co-interviews" where authors are paired with creative people in other fields of art and culture such as fashion, art, culinary arts, music, film/TV, theatre, dance and more.

In each segment, our guests open up a discussion by asking each other about their respective work and inspirations. Full of natural curiosity and without any pre-set questions or previous encounters, this series is filled with the type of spontaneous, engaging conversation that can happen at really good dinner parties, cocktail parties and other chatty gatherings...and then stick in your head for days.

Derek McCormack's latest novel is The Show That Smells (ECW Press, 2008). His last novel, The Haunted Hillbilly, was named a best book of the year by both the Globe & Mail and the Village Voice, and was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award. He lives in Toronto.

Anwar Mekhayech is one of the founders of the acclaimed, multi-disciplinary design firm, Precipice Studios Inc. established in 1998. In February 2008 Precipice Studios re-launched as the Design Agency. He is also one of three hosts of the popular HGTV show, The Designer Guys, and has currently just finished filming the third season. His eclectic sense of design, studies in engineering and interest in travels & cultures all contribute to his passion for design and how it shapes the world we live in.
