Video of the Week: A Death Greatly Exaggerated - Canada's Thriving Small and Fine Press

Share |

John Shoesmith is the Outreach Librarian at the Fisher Rare Book Library and the curator and creator of A Death Greatly Exaggerated: Canada's Thriving Small and Fine Press. The exhibit is both a celebration of the independent publishing scene in Canada and one of many answers to the questions raised by the proliferation of digital reading.

A must for anyone interesting in publishing and literary history in Canada, the exhibit features presses from across the country, publishing a myriad of difference genres and writers. From beautiful hand-crafted chapbooks that qualify as works of art in and of themselves to iconic Canadiana from innovative small press pioneers, visitors will find much evidence of a thriving literary culture and an enduring love for the physical book.

The exhibit is currently running and will be open until August 30, 2013. Click here for more information about visiting.

Check out the video for a comprehensive preview of the exhibit from John himself.
