Video of the Week: Elizabeth MacLeod on Helping Kids Find the Mystery in History

Share |

Prison escapes, mysterious disappearances, runaway horses — it's not the stuff of a dry history lesson. Elizabeth MacLeod has written more than fifty (!!!) books, but her favourite things to write about are the amazing, stranger-than-fiction facts she comes across in her research, from the 16-year old who out-rode Paul Revere to the three men who escape from Alcatraz.

In this video interview, courtesy of Annick Press and MovingStories.TV, MacLeod talks about some of her most recent books, including Bones Never Lie: How Forensics Helps Solve History’s Mysteries, Galloping Through History: Incredible True Horse Stories and Vanished: True Tales of Mysterious Disappearances. She talks about making history come alive for young readers and shares some of the wildest (true) stories she's come across.

Check out this interview, and MacLeod's books, which are perfect for both the enthusiastic and reluctant young readers in your life.
