Note: I didn't have a great corresponding photo to go with this entry, so I attached a snap of myself as a child sitting in a wagon with a lamb. You know, just to reach out to my fellow former sheep farmers.

I'm reading in Montreal next week as part of the Blue Metropolis Reading series. I've listed the details below. I woke up this morning and got on the phone to record an interview with the fabulous feminist performance artist Dayna MacLeod who hosts a show on CKUT radio. We chatted about Bottle Rocket Hearts and the general state of queer writing and culture, Toronto V. Montreal and the pros and cons of being an artist V. labeled a gay artist. Dayna wore fabulously elaborate costumes while hosting Girlspit, an open-mic night I used to curate in mid-90s Montreal. It was great to re-connect with her.

I'm very excited about the upcoming International Festival of Authors - such a stellar line-up this year. Adrian Tomine interviewed by Sheila Heti, A.L. Kennedy (look for my interview with her in this week's Now Magazine ) and Amy Bloom, Marina Lewycka and Vendela Vida interviewed together...not to mention the festival is really local-poet / small press friendly this year with Souvankham Thammavongsa, Emily Schultz, Kevin Connoly and fellow Breathing Fire 2 alum, Adam Dickinson. Way to go, curators - not a boring gig in site. I'm hosting a reading/interview Saturday, October 27, 4:00pm - Lloyd Jones reads from his Booker-shortlisted novel Mister Pip and is interviewed by Paul Quarrington.

If you will be in Montreal next week join me on October 24, 6 p.m. at Dépanneur Café, 206 Bernard Street W. with Jon Paul Fiorentino and Neil Smith.

Reading: Real Sofistikashun - essays on poetry and craft by Tony Hoagland, and Pulpy and Midge by Jessica Westhead
Listening to: The Elected and Built to Spill
